摘要：

The article considers the periodization of the history of exploration and development of the oceans in the twentieth century. The past century characterized by rapid progress in all sectors of the maritime activity: naval activities, the development of ocean resources, the development of international law of the sea, etc. Of course, changes in some sectors had an impact on the others. This interaction was enhanced by changes of international conditions, connected with transformation of the system of international relations. A comprehensive study of the history of the maritime activity requires synchronization of all these changes and an attempt to set up a unified chronology of the development of maritime activities.
