Sustainable urban mobility: a challenge for the 21st century cities

In this study we analyse the facts that explain the environmental and social unsustainability of the current model for urban mobility, together with the negative external factors produced by the transport service. To that end we use statistical data and recent theoretical advances. We point out some of the principles that must govern a sustainable model for urban mobility, which is one of the most important challenges for cities in the 21st Century if we wish to maintain or improve the life quality of medium and large cities.
