ANALYSIS OF ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION IN THE STATE OF BAHIA: SUPPORT FOR THE PREPARATION OF STATE PUBLIC POLICY

In Brazil, the concern for environmental quality was manifested in 1981 with the Federal Law No. 6938, establishing the National Environmental Policy. But it is the Federal Law no. 9.795/99 PNEA - Poltica Nacional de Educacao Ambiental (National Policy for Environmental Education), that was declared the implementation of environmental education at all levels, formal and informal, and ages groups. In Bahia the Environmental Educaation Policy was established in January 2011. The aim of this study was identify how 12 of the 26 identity territories of Bahia are organized and its current status in Environmental Education. Data were obtained from 803 questionnaires applied by CIEA - Comissao Interinstitucional de Educaao Ambiental (Interagency Commission on Environmental Education) in 12 identity territories. The results showed that only three territories are similarities in the developmente of environmental education, so it is expected that with regulations of the Bahia Environmental Education Law, the conduct of environmental education for the State to solve environmental problems is facilitated.
