SINGLE-ELECTRON LOSS IN LOW-ENERGY AR+-HE COLLISIONS

摘要
State-selective single-electron loss processes of ground state and highly-excited metastable Ar+ ions in collisions with He have been studied experimentally at a laboratory impact energy of 4 keV and forward scattering angles by means of translational energy spectroscopy. The populations of highly excited states of Ar+ have been controlled by varying the electron impact energy in an electron impact ion source. These measurements show the dynamic effect of the metastable states in the primary ion beam in the electron loss process.
