摘要：
The relations between the Brazilian intellectuality and the Estado Novo (1937-1945) are relatively well researched. But the studies usually don't include the situation in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul. This article is an attempt to characterize the relations of the gaucho intellectuality with the political regime proclaimed in November 1937.
