FRACTURE OF ANODIC OXIDE FORMED ON ALUMINUM IN SULFURIC-ACID

摘要
In the present work aluminium sheet was anodized at 24 v for 10 min in 10 vol% sulphuric acid at minus 5 degree C. The anodic oxide was fractured by bending sharply through 180 degree . Direct examination of the fracture surface by high-resolution scanning electron microscopy was carried out. It is seen that cleavage occured through the cell boundaries and not through the pores. Most of the fracture is parallel to the pore growth direction.
