The first extra-Pentateuchal references to the patriarchs occur in the corpus propheticum: for Jacob, it is Hosea 12; for Isaac, it is Amos 7; for Abraham, it is Deutero-Isaiah. These three points have become foundational references for the author's developing new historical theory of the patriarchs and the related patriarchal texts. In this contribution, this new theory is summarised and related to the three texts from the prophets indicated above. The implications this understanding would have for developing new theories on the Pentateuch and for academic writing on the history of the Old Testament are briefly indicated.
