EXTRACTION OF HYDRAZOIC ACID BY TRIBUTYL-PHOSPHATE FROM NITRIC-ACID SOLUTIONS CONTAINING URANIUM

Data have been obtained on the extraction of hydrazoic acid by tributyl phosphate solution both in the presence and absence of uranyl nitrate. Complexing of hydrazoic acid with uranyl nitrate has no effect on the extraction under the conditions studied. The simultaneous extraction of hydrazoic acid and uranyl nitrate can be calculated on the basis of a known mathematical model. The HN3 distribution coefficients are somewhat lower when hydrazoic acid is extracted together with uranium-(IV) than with uranyl nitrate. The results are evidence that the effect of temperature on hydrazoic acid extraction is insignificant.
