MICROSCOPIC APPROACH TO THE MOTT-HUBBARD LOCALIZATION

摘要
We propose a variational model of the metal-insulator transition (MIT) which successfully combines the single-particle (band-structure) and correlation (two-particle) aspects of the Mott-Hubbard localization. The critical interatomic distance for MIT is calculated for the 3d monoxides. The effective atomic radius and mass enhancement are strongly renormalized near the MIT boundary.
