摘要
This paper surveys the major legislated rights of United States workers and provides a framework for comparative research on worker rights. Within seven broad categories the current and evolving status of employment rights and practices is described, along with representative empirical research on the economic effects. While neoclassical economics has a presumption against inalienable worker rights, several cases in which rights may be welfare-enhancing are discussed, with emphasis on potential adverse selection problems in several current policy topics. © 1990.
