EFFECTIVE TEMPERATURE FOR ELECTRONS IN BAND TAILS

摘要
A new Monte-Carlo simulation algorithm has been developed for carrier hopping through band-tail states under the influence of various factors, such as temperature T, electric field F, etc. In this paper we demonstrate our algorithm by verifying the concept of the effective temperature for the distribution of electrons in band tails under the influence of a high electric field. For all values of T and F a Fermi-like distribution function characterized by T-eff has been found with T-eff(2) = T-2 + ((0.69 +/-0.03)eF alpha/k)(2) in very good agreement with recent results of Marianer and Shklovskii.
