摘要
The mechanical properties of C60 crystals were investigated using the Vickers microhardness indentation technique. Firstly, the temperature dependence of the hardness was measured at temperatures from about 240 to 470 K. A discontinuous change in the hardness was observed at around 260 K. Such a marked change in hardness is due to the phase transition of the C60 crystal. At temperatures higher than 300 K, the hardness showed an anomalous behavior: the hardness increased with increasing temperature and reached a maximum at around 370 K.
