摘要:
This paper attempts to examine the transition on the defensive systems in the Viceroyalty of Nueva Granada borders (from neighbors-militiamen to disciplined militias) and the military controls of these border areas; it takes the example of the province of Santa Marta, at the end of the Spanish government. In the first part, it examines the role of neighbors and peasants in the military control of the territories inhabited. This experience formed the basis on which the disciplined militia system was implemented; this will be discussed in the second part of this paper. This work is bases on documents extracted from the Archivo General de la Nacion (Colombia) and the Archivo General de Simancas (Spain)
