摘要
Organic esters were found to considerably accelerate the curing of phenol-formaldehyde resol adhesives. The mechanism of ester acceleration of PF resins curing was clarified, the effect of different esters quantified and related to the pK(a) and quantity of the acid forming the ester. Particleboard prepared by using ester-accelerated phenolic-resins presented excellent results even when pressed at press times as fast as those used for urea-formaldehyde resins.
