摘要
This paper attempts to broaden the understanding of the term 'spiritual' and relates it to the enterprise of Catholic education in order to widen its influence beyond the traditional characteristics and activities associated with the term 'spiritual'. The paper shows why Catholic education is a spiritual undertaking in the broadest philosophical and pedagogical sense, and how the nature of the student as a person requires that education be understood spiritually, and that this spiritual dimension is what leads to the appropriation and internalisation of all that is learned, taught and experienced within the context of institutional Catholic education.
