Mix design and performance of warm-mix recycled asphalt

摘要
During recent decades, several studies have been performed on pavement recycling by using mixing temperatures that are lower than those used in traditional hot asphalt mixtures. Warm-mix recycled asphalt with bitumen emulsion is a new recycling technique that is considered a very promising solution in terms of technical, economic and environmental performance. In addition, it allows recycling at low temperature; it increases the amount of recycled pavement, saves energy and reduces carbon dioxide emissions. This technique was recently applied to a Portuguese road. The mix design method and performance of warm-mix recycled asphalt were studied. The aim of this study was to contribute to the definition and development of the warm-mix recycled asphalt design method and to analyse its performance in relation to traditional hot asphalt mixtures.
