TOWARDS A SCIENTIFIC BASIS FOR GERONTOLOGY (Guidelines for Gerontological decolonization in Latin America)

We find ourselves before very important questions related to the gerontologic tasks: to establish whether gerontology, from the theoretical and practical view points, meets the scientific statutes. Also, we need to discover under which criteria gerontology operates and to study the heuristic proposal as an alternative explanatory model of gerontology. Finally, to demonstrate if it is possible to think of other types of theoretical arguments that can help to make gerontology one, as a whole, all over Latin America (related to the world gerontologic studies, but at the same time, quantitatively and qualitatively different from gerontology in Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Israel and the U.S.) It is important to state that this last point is only indicative and will be a very important issue to be discussed in the future.
