摘要：

Concrete deterioration is a serious problem in the Arabian Gulf region. The primary problems are reinforcement corrosion and salt weathering. Sulfate attack, alkali-reactive aggregates, and cracking due to drying shrinkage and thermal gradients are also contributory. The particular severity of these problems in this region stem from the salt-laden environment, high ambient temperatures, and lack of high quality aggregates. The problem areas are reviewed in detail in this paper with special emphasis on reinforcement corrosion.
