PRO AND CONTRA OF POLITICAL-SCIENCE RESEARCH IN THE GDR

The article is an attempt at critical contemplation of deficits and performances of the social sciences in the GDR, in the field of controversial political science research. The background of conflicts to establish political science and the reactions of leading party, which have prevented it, are presented. Some efforts in the fields of peach research, conflict research, democracy research, of relations between the two systems, comparisons of political systems of socialist countries as well as empirical studies have produced approaches to overcome the theoretical and structural deficits and to practise political science research in a new way.
