RATINGS OF JOURNALS IN PHARMACY ADMINISTRATION - A MODIFIED TRIANGULATION STUDY

A mail survey was conducted among deans of U. S. schools of pharmacy in which they were asked to rate journals in the field of Pharmacy Administration with regard to level of achievement associated with faculty publication in each as well as published continuing education lessons. Usable responses were received from 63 deans. These responses were used in a comparison with ratings reported in an earlier study where selected Pharmacy Administration faculty were the respondents. Ratings from both studies were converted to rankings and compared with those journals for whom the Institute for Scientific Information computes ''impact factors''. Statistically significant correlations in rankings was found in all comparisons. The American Journal of Public Health received the highest rating from deans. Published continuing education articles received comparatively low ratings as did journals directed to community practitioners.
