Analysis of scientific production in handball in journals of web of science

The aim of this research was to analyze the scientific contributions whose subject of study was handball and which were published in journals index-linked in Web of Science. The search was conducted in May 2014. The variables analyzed were: a) year of publication; b) research area; c) Web Science categories; d) Journal in which it is published; e) authors' country of origin; and f) Institutions to which the authors belong. 366 articles were compiled. The handball research publication has been growing yearly. Spain is the country which contributes the most and two of their universities are among the most productive ones. A Spanish journal is among the ones which have published most of the articles. The standpoint of the journals which publish the most is diversified: there are journals that have a medical approach and others that are more sport-focused.
