摘要
Liquid crystal behavior of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET)/p-hydroxybenzoic acid (PHB)/poly(ethylene dodecate) (PED) block copolymer has been studied by DSC, polarizing microscopy, and X-ray diffraction method. The results show that the block copolymer is in a thermotropic liquid-crystal state in a considerably wide temperature range. The transition from the crystal state to nematic liquid-crystal state takes place as temperature increases and by further increase of temperature the transition from nematic to more ordered (probably smectic) liquid-crystal state takes place. This process is thermally reversible: crystal reversible nematic reversible smectic. So far, this kind of behavior was scarcely reported.
