摘要
This study had as its objective to find out the expectations of young people in relation to their first job and the influence of socio-demographic variables on their expectations. The sample population consisted of 431 students from the Administration, Information Systems and Economy courses of a private University in the city of Belem (PA). The students answered questions from the First Job Expectations Scale (EPE) and a socioeconomic questionnaire. The results showed that the subjects prioritized Interpersonal Relationships (M=4.52) in the choice of jobs, followed by Personal Politics and Processes (M=4.36), Growth (M=4.14), Personal Advantages (M=3.60) and Ease (M=3.12). The results of the Regression Analysis and the MANCOVA technique showed that the variables course, age, gender and professional performance were correlated with the EPE scale factors. The knowledge generated by this study may be useful in the creation of strategies that seek the congruence between individual and organizational goals and the retention of young people in appropriate jobs in the job market.
