摘要
The expressions for the refracted fields at discontinuity surfaces formed by an isotropic medium and a non-absorbing uniaxial crystal were extended to the zone where ordinary and extraordinary total reflection is produced. It was obtained that the polarizations of the electric fields and the magnetic induction vectors are elliptical, showing that those corresponding to the ordinary electric field and extraordinary magnetic induction are contained in a plane that is perpendicular to the optical axis, independently of the incidence direction. Moreover it was shown that the plane waves that impinge on this kind of interfaces do excite neither electric nor magnetic transversal waves.
