摘要:
The problem of the significant decline in young women studying informatics and subsequently pursuing careers in the informatics profession is addressed. The hypothesis is made that part of this decline can be attributed to the male-oriented paradigm pervasive throughout the study and practice of informatics. Results from a gender and informatics workshop held in the United States in 1990 and related research findings are presented as well as specific recommendations for addressing the problem.
