VETERINARY MEDICAL, ETHICAL AND ECONOMIC-ASPECTS OF THE TREATMENT OF MANURE WITH RESPECT TO ANIMAL HEALTH

The effects of various factors in the treatment of manure on diseases of cattle and pigs are analysed. For some of these factors the economic and ethical consequences are presented. The survival and therefore the risks of transmission of infectious agents is reduced by using solid manure rather than slurry or composting. Therefore expensive measures to combat the occurrence of infectious diseases are unnecessary and ethical aspects are more easily met. The economic advantages by the use of preventive measures can only be obtained by the use of solid manure procedures.
