The civil control of the Brazilian Armed Forces after the formation of the Ministry of Defense

This text has the objective to present and to analyze the civil control of the military in Brazil, after the formation of the Ministry of Defense (MD), comparing it with the situation of the military as political actors. It will present a synthesis of the theory of the civil control of the Armed Forces and the description of the historical panorama of the military institution as political actors in Brazil until 1964. It will continue with a summary of the process that made the restoration of the democratic system in the country, and the creation of the MD possible analyzing the current structure of the civil control in the Brazilian State. Finally, it will consider the effectiveness of the civil control after the advent of the MD.
