摘要：
The X Windows standard' provides the capability of displaying digital images on a high-resolution screen in a distributed environment. The techniques described in this paper have been used to permit computers with neither X Windows software nor high-resolution screens to participate in distributed image processing. An additional minor benefit is that, even where X Windows is available on all the computers being used, a reduction in network loading can sometimes be achieved.
