摘要
Mixed mode cracking requires a knowledge of both Mode I and II stress intensity factors. Applied in this work is the weight function method for determining the stress intensity factors for an edge crack subjected to four-point bending. The conditions for which K11 dominates while K1 is negligibly small such that a specimen could be loaded in Mode II are identified. Deviations due to misalignments of the crack and load support are considered and results are presented numerically and graphically.
