摘要
Microstructure and high-temperature mechanical properties were investigated for Al2O3/SiC nanocomposites. The Al2O3/SiC nanocomposites were fabricated by hot-pressing the mixture of fine Al2O3 and SiC powders at 1600 to 2000-degrees-C in N2 atmosphere under 30 MPa. High resolution transmission electron microscopic observation revealed that nanometer-sized SiC particles were mainly dispersed within Al2O3 matrix grains and, in part, dispersed at grain boundaries. High-temperature mechanical properties such as strength, hardness and creep resistances of Al2O3/SiC nanocomposites were significantly improved by the nano-sized intragranular SiC dispersion.
