The complexes of the types, R3Sn(ONS) [where, R = CH3 or C6H5; ONS = monofunctional tridentate ligands, such as N-methyl-S-benzyl- beta -N(o-hydroxyphenylethylidene)dithiocarbazate, N-methyl-S-benzyl-beta -N-(o-hydroxyphenyl)methylendithiocarbazate and N-methyl-S-benzyl- beta -N(o-hydroxynaphthyl)methylendithiocarbazate] and R(n)Sn Cl4-n.L [where, n = 2, R = C6H5; n = 3, R = CH3 or C6H5 and L = neutral bidentate ligands such as N-methyl-S-benzyl-beta- N-(2-furanyl-, 2-methoxyphenyl-, 4-methoxyphenyl-and benzoylphenyl) methylendithio-carbazates] have been prepared and characterised. The IR and H-1-NMR studies suggested a distorted octahedral geometry for all these complexes.
