METAL INJECTION MOLDED PRODUCTS IN TRANSPORTATION

With the rapid growth of the metal injection moulding (MIM) process occurring in parallel with a similar expansion of the transport industry over the last 10-15 years, it would be expected that major markets for MIM products would be found in automotive, aerospace, and other transport related sectors. This paper, after reviewing MIM and comparing it with competing processes, gives a Royal Ordnance view of the market. It concludes with examples from the literature of parts in production and under development for the transport industry.
