Arthroscopy has become an important tool in the diagnosis and treatment of different disorders of the elbow. It is safe and effective but also technically demanding. The overall rate of complications is 11%, which is higher than previously supposed. A standardized technique taking the neurovascular anatomy into consideration is important to decrease the risk of complications. Placement of the portals to evaluate the whole joint and the approach used are critical if complications are to be avoided.
