The role of the engineer at the society

This text analyzes the engineers role in a class-society. We initially verify that engineers see their insertion in the society in a "naturalized" way. They dont realize -or they partially realize- in which measure their action could reinforce capitalists social relations of production, what is the meaning of their work, if they could or not contribute to the emancipation of the working class. In spite of knowing that engineers develop activities in other fields, we concentrate our focus on their role as capitalists "auxiliary class" in the labour process. For those involved with research and teaching, we present the Socio-Technical Adequation proposal as an instrument that may help them to tread ways for the construction of an alternative style of development.
