摘要
The role of agriculture in economic development has changed significantly over the past few decades. The extended crisis of the 1980s, particularly in the Third World, and the profound structural changes that have taken place in many developing economies following relatively sustained growth in previous years, have resulted in the need for a new set of priorities. The authors examine the impact of adjustment measures on the agrarian economy, taking into account not only agricultural exports but the wider issues of employment, inflation and poverty, and put forward a new agenda for analytical and policy research for the crucial years to come.
