Analyzed scientific studies on psychological preparation of athletes in intellectual sports. Confirmed that the result of competitive activities of athletes depend on mental state. Revealed that the psychological preparation of athletes in draughts has its specific characteristics. Substantiate that it plays a key role in the overall system of preparation for the competition.
