EFFECT OF MICROMIXING ON PRODUCT DISTRIBUTION OF COMPETITIVE PARALLEL REACTIONS IN A CONTINUOUS-FLOW ISOTHERMAL STIRRED TANK REACTOR

摘要
The purpose of this study has been to examine the influence of micromixing on the selectivity of parallel reactions with different kinetic orders. Analytical expressions for the conversion and yield in the two extreme cases of micromixing (maximum degree of mixing and complete segregation) have been deduced. When the reacting fluid is well mixed on the molecular scale and the conversion is greater than 50 per cent, then the yield of the desired product is greater than in the case of complete segregation. This difference in the yield increases rapidly for greater conversions.
