摘要
A theoretical investigation of the use of parametric scattering for the growth of space-charge waves is reported, The process is induced by passage of a relativistic electron beam, which is enclosed in a waveguide and guided by a finite axial magnetic field, through an electrostatic wiggler. Linear theories which allow for the effects of a partially filled waveguide and for electromagnetic field effects on the fast space-charge wave are developed. A numerical study showing the dependence of the frequencies and growth rate of the excited space-charge waves on the magnitude of the axial magnetic field is presented and discussed.
