SELF-DIFFUSION IN MULTICOMPONENT LIQUID-SYSTEMS

Various techniques for measuring self-diffusion coefficients are compared and theoretical approaches of selfdiffusion processes briefly discussed. The self-diffusion of components in mixtures of water with organic solvents are used to gain insight into their local structures. An effect of electrolytes on the solvent structure is shown and an interrelation between solvation of ions and the structure of binary solvents is discussed.
