摘要
The extraction of water from a hydrogen-oxygen fuel cell with an immobilised alkaline electrolyte has been studied. The cell has two flat porous electrodes separated by a membrane impregnated with a 7M aqueous KOH solution. At the anode, hydrogen is consumed and at the cathode, oxygen is consumed: water is the product of the overall reaction. The stability of the performance of the cell requires the flow rate and humidity of the hydrogen to be optimized to suit various parameters such as the current density and the cell temperature. The optimum was found to occur under conditions where the quantity of water eliminated was exactly equal to that produced.
