EPILINGUALISM: CONSIDERATIONS ABOUT ITS CONCEPTUALIZATION IN ANTOINE CULIOLI AND CARLOS FRANCHI

This article aims to reflect on the concept of epilinguistic knowledge, based both on Antoine Culioli's Theory of Enunciative Operations, and on its use in Carlos Franchi's Language as a constitutive activity (1977), which includes explicit references to Culioli's research program. By analyzing the discussion between Antoine Culioli and Claudine Normande on culiolian epistemology, in Onze rencontres sur le langage et les langues (2005), we try to demonstrate how the concept of epilinguistic knowledge, unconscious intrinsic activity which, for culioli, represents language activity itself, is perceived and described by Franchi in his article.
