The women growing participation in the labor market, as well as their presence in universities have been pointed out by many researchers as one of the most important socioeconomic and cultural changes. This article examined men and women's perceptions concerning gender relations on teaching at the engineering undergraduating courses at CEFET-MG, in view of the possibilities of the women's access to leadership and representativity positions in the institution. Our theoretical framework is supported by Lavinia (1997), Bourdieu (2002), Ristoff (2006), Bastos (2007) and Bruschini(2007) in order to help us analyze the data. The methodology followed the qualitative case study approach in CEFET-MG, using interviews with twenty female teachers in the engineering courses. Female participation in teaching in these areas is seen as natural by the teachers, who stated that the educational space is fairly shared.
