The fumigation extraction method to estimate soil microbial biomass: Extraction with 0.01 m CaCl2

摘要：
The fumigation-extraction method to estimate the soil microbial biomass was carried out with 0.01 M CaCl2 solution as extractant. The difference E(C) extracted with 0.01 M CaCl2 from fumigated minus non-fumigated soils can be recalculated into biomass C using the same k(EC) value (= 0.45) as for 0.5 M K2SO4. 0.01 M CaCl2 solution is less suitable for the quantification of microbial biomass N, because the difference EN was proved to be 27 % lower, mainly due to the nonextracting adsorbed ammonium.
