ELECTRICITY SUPPLY IN EUROPE

The power economy in Europe is facing major challenges, as a consequence of which industry needs political support especially in the form of clear boundary conditions and legal continuity for the investments to be made. The East offers unique chances to develop new energy sources, trade electricity, raw materials, capital goods, and services. If these opportunities are to be exploited, the technical and administrative preconditions must be established first. The unsatisfactory situation of the electricity supply systems in Eastern Europe, and the general move westward, make it imperative that the new German federal states and West Berlin be linked to the West European interconnected power grid as quickly as possible.
