BISTABLE SWITCHING IN PLASMA-POLYMERIZED ACRYLONITRILE FILMS

摘要
Bistable memory switching was observed in plasma-polymerized acrylonitrile films that were pyrolysed at T(p) greater-than-or-equal-to 570 K. This effect occurs only in films with aluminium electrodes and the environment of the sample plays an important role in the phenomenon. The ratio of conductivities between the ON and OFF states amounted to a value as high as 10(8). It was found that metallic bridges are responsible for the switching effect. The formation of these bridges is related to the filamentary mechanism of electrical conduction in the films.
