Trophic Features of Round Goby Invasive Species Neogobius melanostomus (Pallas, 1811) in the Upper Part of the Kuibyshev Reservoir

This work presents data on feeding of round goby Neogobius melanostomus (Pallas, 1811), one of the most abundant goby (Gobiidae) invaders of the Kuibyshev reservoir. Analyses of data have shown that trophic features and specific food strategy of round goby define the success of invasion of this species in many aspects. Basis of a diet of this invader in the upper part of the Kuibyshev reservoir consisted mostly of benthic invertebrates: Amphipoda, Oligochaeta, Trichoptera, Diptera, Mollusca. Gut fullness coefficient was relatively high and proved a high intensity of feeding of round goby.
