摘要
Coping is an important part of substance use disorders in terms of use, treatment, and recovery. In this longitudinal study, participants were 25 patients at a 28- to 90-day residential substance abuse treatment facility. All coping strategies were measured using the Urge-Specific Coping Strategies and General Coping Strategies measures. Paired samples t tests assessed the change in use of coping skills over the course of treatment. Frequency of using behavioral and cognitive urge-specific and general lifestyle strategies changed over treatment. Additionally, efficacy of behavioral and cognitive general lifestyle coping strategies increased over the course of treatment.
