METHODS AND POSSIBILITIES OF ASSESSING THE QUALITY OF STATISTICAL-DATA OF REMOTE-SENSING

Applying the experience gained from measuring the quality of socio-economic statistics to data of remote sensing (aerial and satellite photographs) shows a rough structure of data accuracy and the influencing factors. Data quality is depending on developing operational methods corresponding as much as possible to theory and intensively controlling and monitoring the survey procedure in process. Both aspects cannot be measured quantitatively, but can only be assessed in terms of quality. Comparisons with previous information, reference data or quality samples indicate the data quality. Because of the mentioned methodological problems, however, they are not suited for isolated statements.
