W. H. Ireland forged many documents, but he also inspired others to forge. A variety of gothic scholars have forged facts concerning a "lost" Ireland novel, Bruno, including a full bibliographical entry, the location of two copies, and a plot synopsis. There is, however, a 1500 word short story by Ireland called the "Legend of Bruno," rediscovered by Jack Lynch. It is here reprinted in full for the first time. This "Bruno" may also be a forgery of sorts because it appears that Ireland may have falsified the date of its composition.
