Translating the passives

Although the fact that the use of the passive form is extremely less frequent compared to the active in all languages, and the fact that the child acquires it later, this form constitutes one of the most important chapters in the grammars of languages. The recourse to this form of expression is not always a matter of the speaker's choice; there are circumstances where the situation of communication and the context impose it. In this paper, I deal with some cases of passive, discuss its translatability from one language into another; and then, I illustrate some cases of its untranslatability within the same language.
